The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there's an undeniable attraction simmering between them. I am not going to say that the romance was cheesy and cringe as it is expected to happen between the romance of two normal individuals. And, of course, this book has to have a final act breakup that is all based on a massive misunderstanding. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough.

As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can't deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost. She encapsulates the quirky but dysfunctional family with aplomb, making you alternately want to meet and avoid them!

The conflict then ends up being resolved incredibly quickly without the root cause of the issues ever being addressed, and then the book ends. She was so amazed that he seemed to like her for her personality, but I didn't see much evidence that he liked her for anything other than her full kissable lips and banging body (until the final parts of the book anyway). Surface level wasn’t enough for her any longer and I loved that she came to that realisation in her own way.

Because the “pride hardening his chest” is described as “masculine”, as are the “thick ropes” of his back muscles; he smells of “salt water and unapologetic maleness” (which is… what, exactly? Now she -an impulsive party girl- is stranded with a huge, bearded fisherman obsessed with routine and constant brooding, in a town full of people so unlike her usual crowd. But this was just a sorry, sad case of disempowered women bitching about their perceived pathetic lives when nothing really that bad was going on. Set in picturesque coastal towns, these stories explore the themes of unexpected love, personal growth, and second chances.

I've written stories and poems since I was a kid, and am delighted that making up stories is now my 'proper job. I've been sitting with my thoughts on It Happened One Summer for a few days now because I loved it so much, I wasn't in the mood to explain why. She] is bound to earn new followers with love scenes hot enough to boil water and a hilariously naïve Schitt’s Creek-inspired protagonist who is clearly out of her depth. Her last boyfriend dumbs her before things are getting boring for them, telling her she’s an airhead without any life purpose and there’s nothing special about her! When her boyfriend of the moment breaks up with her in the middle of a Hollywood party, Piper decides to break into a hotel pool and throw a raging party as revenge, which ends with her in jail. Not only has Nell to contend with Cornish weather and her mother's barbed comments, she has to cope with the imminent visit from her older brother, his perfect wife and eccentric twin sons and, what's worse, her younger sister and future brother in law - the man who used to be her lover! I don’t know about you, but when I’m reading a sex scene I don’t want to have the Gingerbread Man from Shrek pop up in the back of my mind shrieking “not my gumdrop buttons!
